Honey honey honey, in a bee keeper's world

My conservation and biodiversity teacher asked the class about what conservation projects they had worked on and I mentioned my honey bee research. She actually joined a bee keeping group, founded 2 months ago and invited me to the hives today.  We were greeted by a small group of smiling danes that were checking through the 3 hives to make sure they were ok. We even saw the queens in each hive. The weather was really awesome and so the honey bees were quite active and plentiful which was great to see.

Inside the hives we examined the combs for any irregularities like disease or mites.

One of the members examining the comb:
My teacher Inger: She is the sweetest and most caring person. Her jokes are mostly about making fun of herself, which makes her even more lovable

Just couldn't resist...

Pictures from the lake nearby: the first one is a tree full of the cormorant bird and the second of 2 swans in the lake.
